eBay Owned Shopping.com Gets Rebrand Boost

eBay's Shopping.com affiliate network is undergoing a rebrand to distance it from its origins as a price comparison site as well as to leverage the brand power of its parent company.

Shopping.com was acquired by eBay in 2005 and has grown from a comparison shopping engine into a popular platform connecting merchants and consumers.

Now called the eBay Commerce Network, the site will become the only network that allows merchants to advertise products through exclusively available ads on both eBay's marketplace and other publisher sites on the network.

The eBay Commerce Network claims to reach 250 million consumers globally each month, with 8,000 merchants and 2,000 publishers on board.

Sales Director of eBay Commerce Network, Ryan Kemp, explained in a recent interview that the rebrand reflects how "integral" the network is to eBay's overall strategy to connect buyers and sellers online.

He commented: "The eBay brand will help us move away from the comparison shopping side of things. We don't want to just be seen as that, we're much more than that. A large part of investment and focus is going to be in the network."
